High-stakes co-op card game

More or less an expansion of the well-loved strategy game Sentinels of the Multiverse, the card game Sentinels of Earth-Prime features the same heroes but in a different setting. This title from Handelabra Games adapts the characters from the tabletop roleplaying game Mutants & Masterminds into their digital forms, this time set in the Earth-Prime universe.

Top Recommended Alternative

While Sentinels of Earth-Prime is a standalone game and can be enjoyed even without playing the other title in the series, it is, fortunately, cross-compatible with that game — meaning you can play with owned content from both games without losing anything.

With tons of battle opportunities

Aside from its complex yet high-tension gameplay, one of the main highlights of Sentinels of Earth-Prime is its well-drawn graphics. With insane attention to detail, avid fans of Mutants & Masterminds will see their beloved characters brought to life. As mentioned, it is fully compatible with Sentinels of the Multiverse, so you can play with each game’s cards interchangeably, as long as both games are installed on your device.

The game features all 10 heroes — Dr. Metropolis, Lady Liberty, Johnny Rocket, The Raven, Star Knight, Captain Thunder, Daedalus, Bowman, Siren, and Pseudo — along with the four villains, namely Grue Meta-Mind, Omega, Hades, and Argo the Ultimate Android. There are Hero variants that can be unlocked, too, but so far they are not yet available. Plus, there are four environments, which are Tartarus, Farside City, Freedom City, and The Terminus.

Despite being marketed as a multiplayer cooperative card game, it is also possible to play it alone. When going solo, you can pick three to five heroes. There are more than 9,000 potential battles to encounter and there are also 13 achievements to unlock. However, all of these may be too much to learn for players unfamiliar with the tabletop game, especially if they are looking for just a casual card game.

Not for non-fans of the original

In conclusion, Sentinels of Earth-Prime is a well-made digital adaptation of the tabletop roleplaying game Mutants & Masterminds. For solid fans of the franchise, it’s highly worth recommending. Aside from the spectacular card artwork and high-stakes battles with players from all over the world, it’s also cross-compatible with content from Sentinels of the Multiverse. Although, the complex lore may prove to be too much for newbies.
